The ceramic weld backing strip is used for one-side welding of various angled joints through arc or CO2 welding(45 degree).
The weld backing tapes are flexible, self adhesive aluminum foil with non metallic ceramic backing which does not require any magnetic clamp or fixture to be fixed in position. These are suitable for preheat up to 100 ℃ to 150 ℃ are available in various shapes for different types of weld joints. Like metal backing bar, it does not contaminate with parent metal & also does not become part of it.
Welding Ceramic Backing is suitable for Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Weld (TIG) and Sub-merged Arc Welding (SAW) of V-shape, X-shape, T-shape joints of metal structures in shipyard, off-shore building, heavy industries etc.

By using ceramic welding tape for one side welding:

1. Due to having been backed at high temperature, the blocks have excellent resistance to heat shocks in course of rapid heating or cooling. Under the high temperature of welding, they remain stable without producing molten metal drops and in the same time a good back bead is formed.
2. Ceramic materials have the fine property of acid and alkali resistively. Therefore, in process of steel pieces welding, no deformation and no physical or chemical reactions occur.
1. Weld backing tapes are fixed form inside the pipes. Fit up is made using C clamps. Weld joint is free from weld tacks.
2. Root run welding is completed non-stop by fcaw process. More than 500 joints are welded & not a single weld joint found defective in ultrasonic testing.
3. Pipe to pipe weld joint ready for welding. Total circumferential joint is free from weld tacks.
4. Weld backing tape are removed after welding. Uniform & smooth weld penetration is achieved in root run welding only. No back gouging / grinding & Rewelding from inside.
